The Education Singularity: when knowledge becomes almost free.
For two hundred years, universities were built around four things that were scarce: knowledge, explanation, proof of learning, and a place to belong. AI is making the first three cheap, all at the same time. Stanford's AI Index found that running an AI model at GPT-3.5's level became more than 280 times cheaper in under two years.
We call this the Education Singularity. In simple words: when an explanation costs almost nothing, the old campus model (teach the content, then test it) can no longer carry a university on its own. Campuses are not going away. What they are for is changing.

In a trial with nearly 1,000 high-school maths students in Turkey, a plain chatbot raised practice scores, but once it was taken away those students did worse than students who had never used it. A version designed with teachers, giving hints instead of answers, helped without that harm.
